Rom Traders

As an engineer working on the sales of our products, the most exciting aspect of last week in Dar was meeting with Rom Traders, a distributor in Dar who is prepared to try out our products. It was great to see our machine in their shop.

And they were so busy!

The really thrilling part though was getting the chance to go to their warehouse, and just seeing the sheer number of parts they have coming through their warehouse. Just think…300-500 containers coming through their warehouse in a year! That means they can expect at least a container/day. For me, it was a real treat to really see distribution at scale.

As one of the four major distributors in bicycle parts in Tanzania, Rom Traders was no joke, and it came to my relief that this “random dude” that had contacted me via email had the capacity to distribute our products across the country.

I doubt we’ll ever get to the scale of Rom Traders, but being there was a learning experience. I had always read about this distribution and supply chain, but I’d never really seen it at its best. I plan to keep in touch with them, and as we grow, I’ll be sure to leverage them.
